VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) Engineer

Key Responsibilities

• Deploy, configure, and manage VCF environments (management and workload domains).
• Implement and optimize VMware solutions: vCenter, vSphere, vSAN, NSX-T, HCX, and SRM.
• Perform capacity planning, risk analysis, and health checks across infrastructure components.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues in virtualized compute, storage, and networking layers.
• Create technical documentation, runbooks, and operational handoffs.
• Collaborate with architecture and pre-sales teams to align solutions with business requirements.
• Support disaster recovery designs and failover testing, including SRM and vSphere Replication.
• Conduct knowledge transfer sessions for customers and internal teams.

Required Skills & Experience

• Strong experience with VMware Cloud Foundation or large-scale vSphere/NSX/vSAN deployments.
• Solid understanding of virtualization, networking (L2/L3, routing protocols, load balancing), and storage concepts.
• Hands-on experience with at least two: vSAN, NSX-T, HCX, or SRM.
• Familiarity with hyper-converged systems such as Dell VxRail.
• Proficiency in troubleshooting complex VMware issues end-to-end.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical solutions to mixed audiences.
• Ability to work off-hours for deployments or escalations, and travel occasionally as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

• VMware certifications (VCP, VCIX, or VCAP; VCDX not required).
• Experience with automation tools (PowerCLI, Ansible, Terraform) and infrastructure-as-code concepts.
• Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and hybrid integrations with VMware.
• Familiarity with backup/storage platforms (e.g., Dell PowerStore, Veeam, Data Domain).

Background

• 5–10 years of experience in enterprise IT, consulting, or service provider environments.
• Demonstrated success implementing or supporting VCF or large VMware-based infrastructures.
• Track record of working with cross-functional teams in customer-facing roles.
